Emmanuel Kofi-Agyir Sackey

Emmanuel Kofi-Agyir Sackey holds a Master of Philosophy degree (M.Phil) in Food Science and Technology with specialization in Product Development and Food Biotechnology, B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Chemistry, Diploma in Education (Dip Ed), Diploma in French Studies (DELF) and a number of certificates in Project Management, Strategic Planning, Transformative Leadership and Feasibility Studies. He obtained the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Fellowship to undertake Six-month post-graduate studies in biotechnology and intellectual property at the Swedish Patent and Registration Office, Stockholm, Sweden in the year 2000.

He has published several articles on IP and co-authored 2 books on TRIPS Agreement and Access to Essential Medicines as well as IP and Food Security. He is a contributor of the recently published book on “The Informal Economy in Developing Nations – Hidden Engines of Innovation” published by the Cambridge University Press in 2016. He also edited the Master in Intellectual Property Textbook on “Intellectual Property Law, Management and Practice – African Perspective” that was published in 2018.  He has been instrumental in ARIPO policy and legislative developments on traditional knowledge, genetic resources, expressions of folklore and Plant Variety Protection.
